Eric Burdon sings "House of Rising Sun" but with NO instruments | ONLY His Voice
I edit this because "House of the Rising Sun" is one of my favorite songs EVER! There have been tons of different versions. But this is my favorite version of the song. ❤️
"The Animals" was a British band in the 1960s.
The lead singer here, Eric Burdon is actually one of my musician crushes. He's an old man now. But when he was young, I think he was such a cutie pie - look how cute he was! 😍
But seriously, it's not just a superficial crush, I am genuinely fascinated by his life and his music career. I have watched documentaries and interviews. I did a lot of research. I was very curious about him because he's a fucking legend. 💯
As a young black American woman myself, I really LOVE how Eric publicly credited the black musicians as his inspiration.
He said that as a young kid, his favorite musician was the legendary, Louis Armstrong.
He became a musician himself because he had a deep love, respect, admiration, and was inspired by many talented, black musicians from America.
"House of the Rising Sun" is an extremely old song so the original source is a mystery. But the oldest source that I could find was from 1933 by leadbelly, who was in fact, a black American musician.
So I do believe this song was originally made by a black American from New Orleans.
I think Eric knew that too because he drops his natural British accent and he sang this in an American accent to honor the true roots of the song.
But I made this for my own personal pleasure because Eric's singing vocals are my favorite part.
I just edit the instruments out of it so I can really appreciate Eric's singing voice here.

Honestly, we have all this AI and new technology so I'm waiting on these modern technicians to build a time machine so I can go back to the 1960s and see Eric Burdon sing when he was young in his prime because this is still so amazing that such a masculine, powerful singing voice came out of his cute little face. 🤭

I think the same thing about Pete and it's probably why Gary bullied him because they were both the same, and he didn't want people to see it. Except, I think Gary was better at hiding his gay-ness behind a tough, masculine surface while Pete being closet gay was more obvious by walking around in his pink shirts and feminine personality. 😖

But my impression is that the slightly older Gary is bullying him and accusing him of being homosexual because he has a certain interest in him but can't admit it. Well, games like this leave a lot of room for interpretation ;-)

In this case, Petey is a teenage boy with hormones, he also showed no interest in girls, and he suggested that Jimmy become a male stripper. It's obvious that Gary is smart enough to know that Petey is closet gay because (as you pointed out) Gary is also closet gay and as people say... It takes one to know one. 🤣
